Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our loyal fans.

Team and game news for the last couple of weeks and for the Over 30's, things not going well as 2008 draws to a close. Two weeks ago, a 5 - 5 draw against Oakville Athletic was a scrappy affair with some dissension in the ranks. Shifts for too long, loss of shape and bitching meant that we were always on the back foot. Draw was a reasonable result but we need to do better, especially in keeping the shifts to a reasonable length and the moaning to a minimum. Last Thursday we took on the table leaders, Team Ice Oldies. A strong team, we would need a good performance and unfortunately, it did not show up. A 6 - 0 loss due to poor defending and marking, loss of shape again and not hitting the target meant we were never really in this one. The result was a little flattering to them to be fair, 3 of the goals being bounces or deflections that landed in their favour. Message from this one though is the shift lengths and playing a position. Anyway a few weeks break over the holidays should give us chance to regroup and hopefully have a strong push to the end of the session. One other thing to point out is dosh. We need to clear the outstanding amount at Soccer City so be prepared for some fund raising activities in the New Year. Nuff said. See you January 8th.

Co Ed News is somewhat better - no game last week so onto yesterdays encounter with Brampton FC. This one should have been a reasonable run out for us and ultimately turned out to be the case although some concern at kick off as pretty much everyone was late. Starting with 3 guys 2 girls, people filtered in throughout the game and we eventually ran out 6 - 0 winners. A nice team, very sporting and recognition to these guys for showing up and giving a game each week. Their keeper made some fine saves in this one too so the score could have been much more. No break next week so we are right back at it next week straight after Christmas. I will be looking for the results as I will be in UK for a couple of weeks. Make sure you do the business. See you in a couple of weeks and all the best for Christmas and New Year.
