Real Ale Madrid 3     Ching Coaches 2

Ahmed 2, Simon 1*

*Some would say it was an own goal, others that Simon has every right to claim the goal. In the interests of team spirit, padding his stats and boosting his fragile ego, I give the goal to Simon.

So, finally a win. And done the hard way as well. 2-0 down to a Coaches teams with more ringers than a church bell, er, ringers club, we came back to dramatically steal victory with a stirring, er, comeback. A couple of beautifully taken goals by Ahmed and a screamer, cough, from Simon doing the deed. There were some sticky patches during the game, passes going astray, tempers frayed and some poor marking, but with about 1/2 hour to play we woke up and started to dominate the game. From my vantage point between the sticks it was hard to see the build up to the first two goals, but it looked like some lovely quick passing and some sublime finishing by Ahmed. The third I saw clearly as a cruel deflection took the ball past the Coaches keeper with about 5 minutes to go. Clearly the tonic the team needed. With the back four marshalling the coaches most dangerous players I was called upon to only make one cat like reflex save. And I made it. So we now trail the Coaches by only one point and we have Milton away next Sunday and they are below us (depending on their result yesterday) by as much as 6 points. Map attached for the game Sunday. Those who cannot make it (Paul C, Aiden and Jack I know about) etc.....

Player of the game.. tough one here. I could nominate myself for a stellar turn in goal, but that would be unfair. Anthony and Aiden were solid in midfield and Warren was his usual tough self. But the nod goes to Ahmed for the finishing skills we all know he has.

Big week for the soccer city squad. Thursday a battle against top team Redpath. A win would see us one point behind them with a game in hand. Saturday at 2pm the cup semi....I need to know who can or cannot make that one and also who is bring the beverages that day?

cheers all.
