ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOING ON Madrid falls flat against Strella

STRELLA 4                             REAL ALE 3 Paul G. 2 Chris

Evidently not the performance we were looking for last night, but they outplayed us considerably. If you were to take the ball possession stats for the whole game , it would probably work out to 85% in their favour. They won every ball, had better control, and continually sent waves at us that we barely were able to handle and sometimes we were just lucky to handle. But games like this will happen, so we cant be down on ourselves. Just another typical Wednesday game for our Tuesday squad.

Good - Paul Grimes is the leading scorer………… goal of the year off of a corner kick that was well placed. Sure they may be ugly as the other four he has were all penalty shots, but he is getting the job done. - Darren in the back……this man played his heart out last night and left a piece of him on the field. The dude’s got heart and drive and is one hell of a player. - The defense as a unit played good in handling the relentless waves. They could only do so much, but what else are you gonna do when they are all over you like that ? - Lastly…..Karsten. Now I know that last goal he let in pretty much was as deflating as they come and the desire to run up and give him a flying drop kick for it was great, but if it wasn’t for all his other stops this score should have been 15-3. Bad - mids and forwards with no control………. They dominated the sh!t out of us cause we couldn’t control the ball or string any passes together. We had 2 shots the whole second half, including the corner kick goal from Grimes, which is pathetic. The ref kept us in this and we did nothing to justify being in it. The midfield battle in their favour is what killed us here - injuries again……. Trevor with a pinched nerve in his neck, Lou with a strained and torn upper thigh, Sean Roth. Still with a pulled groin, and so on and so forth…. Ugly - some players have taken to the Simon school of being unable to stay on their feet. I’m talking to you Steve. Jeff would be very disappointed with you.

Up next… Back to back vs. the Ukraine. Starts with the cup this Saturday which is a must win, and with Astra breathing down our necks for that final spot, a must win is necessary next Wednesday. We’re entering the home stretch now, and this is where we have to make things happen.
